![]() Any person (birth parent, adopted adult, or adoptive parent) served by HFS may request information about their adoption through our Post Adoption Contact Services office located in Santa Ana. Adopted adults must be at least 18 years of age to receive non-identifying information about their birth parents. An adoptee must be at least 21 to receive identifying information about their birth parents. Identifying information can only be provided when birth parents have agreed to be contacted. Adopted adults may also request information about their birth parents identity if requested in writing. We will search the file for birth parents' instructions regarding shared information. If birth parent/s are open to contact, the worker will advise them that their birth child would like to contact them. The meeting is arranged through the Post Adoption Contact worker. Birth parents who placed their child for adoption and had requested "no contact" at the time of placement, can change their mind about contact. They may write a letter expressing their openness to contact. This letter is placed in the file and will allow a post adoption contact if the child as an adult requests it. Adoptive parents may request information about their HFS adoption through this department. This service is provided through the Placentia office (714) 528-6300. |
